To bring honor and glory to God in all we do.
We exist to honor God by living transformed lives in fellowship as the body of Christ; worshiping, serving and growing together in Christ, confidently sharing the gospel of Christ in our community and beyond.
Transforming lives by the power of prayer and the Word of God.
First Baptist Church of Yanceyville was formed in 1833 in the Village of Yanceyville. Known as Yanceyville Baptist, the church was erected on a lot donated by Colonel Thomas Graves of Georgia who had once lived in Caswell County.
The first structure was constructed of brick with balconies on both sides to accomodate slaves wishing to worship. In 1917 the building was remodeled adding four Sunday School rooms to the rear, a baptistry under the pulpit that was made accessible by removing wide flooring, and the balconies were removed. The church was heated by two cast iron stoves - one on each side of the sanctuary.
In 1939, under the leadership of Rev. PT Worell, the church felt a need to replace the old building with something new. It wasn't until 1950, however, that a begin date was approved by the congregation. The last service in the old church was held January 29, 1950 followed by demolition.
On Easter Sunday, March 15, 1951, the first service took place in the new building. Yanceyville Baptist Church was renamed to First Baptist Church of Yanceyville on July 21, 1954.
Today, FBC Yanceyville continues to be a place of worship where all are welcome and all are loved. If you are looking for a home church, please visit one of our worship services or contact our deacons. We are looking forward to sharing the love and grace of God with you.
